Volunteer Center of North Texas
How they are participating
The Volunteer Center of North Texas (VCNT)connects more than 20,000 volunteers to its member nonprofits annually, fulfilling both the organization's needs and the individual's desire to serve. The time those volunteer donate to the community annually, combined with the hours worked by individuals ordered to perform community service, equals more than 575,000 hours. That hour figure multiplied by $21.43, the current estimated value of a volunteer hour, represents a value to the community of more than $12 million annually. Another $4.4 million worth of material resources distributed through our Donated Goods Program brings VCNT's total annual community impact to more than $16 million. In celebration of National Giving Day, VCNT has invited its 2,500 member agencies to participate in a unique fundraising activity. We are offering a win-win opportunity for all those involved and we have received a huge response from agencies wanting to participate. Here’s how it works: • VCNT provides agencies with drawing tickets (at no charge)and the agency sells the tickets to their constituents. Tickets are $20 each or 7 for $100; Agencies keep 50% of the proceeds and VCNT keeps 50% to help continue supporting north Texas nonprofit agency needs for volunteer related service and resources. Anyone who purchases a ticket, is entered into a drawing to win an iPad2 valued at $399. • As an added bonus, the agency who sells the winning ticket will win a $1,000 shopping spree to Donated Goods along with a one-year Partner level membership to VCNT, valued at $150.
