How they are participating

Wheat Ridge Ministries joins people around the country in the effort to assist the victims of Hurricane Sandy. We have established a special “Hope and Recovery Fund” to provide resources to congregations, schools and agencies as they bring health and healing to people. These funds will not be used for emergency relief efforts. Current relief efforts are focused, as they should be, on urgent care needs around food, shelter, and other essential short-term human needs. Hope and Recovery Funds will be invested in new efforts that address long-term health and human care issues that we know will emerge in the coming months after immediate relief, cleanup and restoration efforts have been completed. A $10,000 challenge contribution is being made by Wheat Ridge Ministries to the Hope and Recovery Fund. Every dollar given, up to $10,000, will be matched in order to create a fund for Lutheran congregations, schools and agencies who develop new hope and healing efforts as a result of the terrible losses suffered by people on our northeast coast.
