How they are participating

Every 3 minutes, a child somewhere in the world is born with a cleft lip or cleft palate, a birth defect affecting the upper lip and roof of the mouth that prevents the ability to feed properly. One in 10 children born with a cleft will die before their first birthday. Across the globe many of these children are abandoned, residing in child welfare facilities and are at high risk for malnutrition. Infants with this condition depend on special feeding practices and dedicated caregivers for their survival. All donations made to Joint Council on Tuesday, December 3 will help us purchase and distribute cleft palate bottles for children in institutions. Working with our partner, Operation Smile, the special bottles will save the children's lives, providing them with the necessary nutrition so they can gain weight to undergo restorative facial surgery. Donate generously by visiting our homepage at www.jointcouncil.org.
