The values lived and learned each and every summer at Camp Galil are critical. It is a place where young people learn to use their voices, to become leaders, to feel connected to Judaism and to make lifelong friendships. Every child deserves that opportunity. Camp Galil has remained committed to providing an unforgettable overnight summer camp experience for Jewish youth. Part of how we are able to do that is through the generosity of our camping family! We are counting on you to support our 2012-2013 Annual Appeal so that no one misses out on the magic of camp for lack of funds. Every $75 donated to our Scholarship Fund will help us subsidize one day of Camp Galil for a deserving child. The Connelly House is a joint facility of Project Home and the Bethesda Project and it provides services and housing to homeless men and women in center city Philadelphia. Local Company, Jenkintown Building Services, joins a National Effort to develop a new day of giving, GIVING TUESDAY We all recognize Black Friday and Cyber Monday as days to shop for bargains, and flood the malls and online shopping sites. Jenkintown Building Services is joining a new national initiative called #GivingTuesday, a day to give back to the community in varied and creative ways and develop giving opportunities. JENKINTOWN will perform a service project on Tuesday Nov 27th, for the Connelly House, rappelling the 8 story building and gifting free window cleaning. The Connelly House is a joint facility of Project Home and the Bethesda Project and it provides services and housing to homeless men and women in center city Philadelphia. Marty Tuzman, CEO of JENKINTOWN states, "I recently heard about #GivingTuesday and its call to service. I immediately thought it was a perfect counter balance to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday is the opposite of shopping. It asks people and organizations to find a way they can give back. It is a reminder for us to pay attention during this holiday season to the meaningful and unique ways we can each uniquely help others and the world we live in." #GivingTuesday is a new national initiative that has become increasingly popular since it was launched by the 92nd St Y, in New York, less than a year ago. It encourages gifting, volunteering and other ways to give back to the community. Over 1600 partners have joined. Its supporters, also called "partners" are from all around the country and from all three sectors — private industry, charitable sector and the government. The partnerships are listed on the web site, www.givingtuesday.org. JENKINTOWN is joining as a partner to this effort. "I hope this new initiative becomes a part of how Philadelphians plan for the holiday season. I will be spreading the word among the companies and organizations who work with JENKINTOWN and encourage them to get involved. I bet that by next year, we will be hearing about hundreds of project that will be taking place in our region. I am happy to add this initiative to the varied ways JENKINTOWN gives to the community", added Tuzman. Mann Center for the Performing Arts
Nonprofit
The Mann for the Performing Arts is the only summer outdoor performing arts venue in the Philadelphia region and offers a diverse season of world-class culture and entertainment.
More than 50,000 young people participate in the Mann’s free educational programs each year, which include young people’s concerts, in-school presentations, workshops and master classes.
On #GivingTuesday (Nov. 27, 2012) the Mann is asking patrons to make a special one-time gift to help tackle the biggest hurdle in providing access for young people to attend these free educational programs: the cost of transportation.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 on #GivingTuesday to help pay for school buses so children can experience the magic and richness of live performance.
You can help the Mann by purchasing a seat on the bus. Your $50 donation will provide a seat on a bus for one child. We need 200 donors to each make a gift of $50 to meet our goal and you can help the cause today.
Let's work together to make sure every child gets the chance to be inspired by the beauty and wonder of the Mann Center.
All #GivingTuesday donors will be honored on the Mann’s website. Follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook for announcements and updates about how you can join The Mann Center for the Performing Arts on #GivingTuesday.
