In 2012 we had more than 2,000 recognized #GivingTuesday™ partners from all 50 states of the United States.  They were either registered charities [a 501(c)3] with a specific #GivingTuesday initiative, or they are for-profit businesses, schools, religious or community groups who committed to spearhead a project that will benefit at least one 501(c)3.

#GivingTuesday is  an umbrella under which  many exciting projects take place!  We are not a funding organization and each partner organization is responsible for its own initiative.

We invite you to contact us here for more information. Meanwhile, please read on for ways you can support a #GivingTuesday action now! What will YOU give on #GivingTuesday?

  • HIPS

    Nonprofit

HIPS has recently started an exciting new venture: a “Ladies Support Group” that addresses the unique needs of individuals currently engaged in—or who have loved ones involved with—transactional sex. This group began in response to the wants and needs of our clients based on conversations in multiple focus groups. One of our volunteers—a trained sexual health counselor and therapist—has graciously offered her time each Thursday to facilitate these group discussions. The final barrier our clients face in attempting to reach our offices for this support group, however, is transportation. With the funds raised from #DayOfGiving, we hope to compensate our clients with metro rail passes so that they may have the means to attend this necessary and exciting support group. As our peer educator, Ms. Paula, once said, “A lot of times, when our girls come here [the HIPS office], they wonder if they’re gonna have a meal to eat, or a token for the metro,” because otherwise they “would not be able to afford” the journey. So please, as the holiday season draws nearer, consider donating to HIPS’ newest initiative to ensure our ladies have a safe space to discuss their lives in a low-barrier, non-judgmental, affirming environment.
