We have a current campaign called "InovaCares: Leading the Way" The purpose of this campaign is to raise funds for an Inova community benefitted program called InovaCares Clincs for Women and Children. These clinics provide community-based healthcare and wellness to individuals (women, children and families) that might not get the healthcare they need. Here is the program informaiton:
Inova’s Commitment to the Underserved:
Inova is leading the way in providing our community with comprehensive, innovative healthcare – especially for those who might not otherwise receive care. In 2011, Inova invested more than $254 million in community benefit. What makes Inova truly unique is the percentage of resources it commits to the community: 10.7% of its net revenue from 2011 which surpasses the national average of 3 – 5%.
The InovaCares Clinics:
InovaCares was created in 1960 to serve the uninsured women of Fairfax County offering a wide range of OB/GYN services for those in need. The Clinic for Children
was created in 1993 as a response to the inability of new uninsured or Medicaid mothers to secure an affordable medical home for their children.
InovaCares Clinic for Women provides comprehensive outpatient prenatal, obstetrical, gynecological and surgical care to uninsured and low-income patients from communities across Northern Virginia. In 2011, the InovaCares Clinic for Women had 3,481 patients with a total of 36,162 visits. As a result, approximately one-third of the births at Inova Fairfax Hospital are comprised of InovaCares patients.
InovaCares Clinic for Children serves as a medical home for children from birth to 21 years of age. The Clinic for Children provides comprehensive pediatric services that include well-child care, immunizations, episodic care (sick visits), school/sports physicals, and nutritional counseling. To answer the growing demand for pediatric services in the Reston/Herndon region, InovaCares Clinic for Children opened a satellite clinic in June 2009. In a few short months, the satellite location was treating over 22 patients per day and had more than 4,100 visits in its full year of operation.
In 2011, the InovaCares Clinic for Children served 7,927 patients with a total of 28,599 visits. The demand for women and pediatric services in the Northern Virginia area continues to grow. In response to this growth, InovaCares recently opened a new clinic located in the Seven Corners region of Falls Church.
The InovaCares Clinics are constantly developing innovative ways to meet the needs of this unique population in an effective and efficient manner. One initiative involves bringing together mothers and babies for their well-baby check-ups, spurring group learning and building a support network for new mothers. This allows physicians to spend more time with patients and decrease the cost for each visit. Telemedicine is another innovative program being developed to facilitate access for this population. This technology leverages the skill set of a limited number of medical specialists to reach a greater number of patients. These initiatives go beyond caring for mother and baby; they are changing the course of health and wellness for the entire family and ultimately the community at large.
Making an Impact through Philanthropy:
While the InovaCares Clinics have a tremendous impact on the underserved women and children in our area, we know we have just begun to meet the needs of this growing population. Inova, as part of its core mission to improve the health and wellness of the families in our community, has made a significant investment in these vital programs. To take our efforts “to the next level” – reach more women and children and continue to provide innovative solutions to meet their health and wellness needs - will require the support of philanthropy.
Specifically, philanthropy will allow for an expansion of the telemedicine program, increasing levels of primary and specialty care, including access through school-based clinics. Charitable support will also fund additional clinical staff such as pediatricians, nurses and medical assistants.
Join Us:
We invite you to join us in leading the way with next generation community health and wellness. Thank you for considering an investment in the InovaCares programs.
