During a time of crisis and division, too many people feel isolated and helpless, yearning for a way to build the world they wish to see and make an impact on important issues.
We have an opportunity to use the power of generosity to fuel more connection, understanding, and collective action.
What is it?
#GivingEveryTuesday is a series of weekly opportunities to come together to give, volunteer, and show kindness in shared moments with communities, causes and countries around the world.
How does it work?
The GivingTuesday team, in collaboration with our global community of leaders and partners, sets a generosity theme for each week of the year. Some week’s themes are based on international days, others are based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Click here to find the full calendar.
All around the world, GivingTuesday leaders will mobilize their communities to take action on that cause, whether that’s a volunteer event, acts of kindness, donation drives, advocacy campaigns, education—and share with their networks, constituents, media, and partners to create a wave of good around the world.
What impact will it have?
Creating a weekly generosity ritual gives each of us the opportunity to inspire more good in our communities, while we build a more generous world, increasing civic participation, driving giving, and building connection and empathy.
As we learned in our lookback at 2020 report, shared moments such as giving days, holidays, awareness days, or responding to a crisis help cause supporters to feel a sense of connection to others. We also know that supporters are much more likely to convert to giving money if they’re first offered other ways to get involved with a cause. #GivingEveryTuesday creates 52 of these moments that organizations can use to grow their base of supporters by getting them engaged in their cause in ways outside of fundraising.
How can nonprofits, grassroots activists, and community organizations participate?

They gathered and distributed diapers, toiletries, baby food, formula and menstrual products for mothers and babies in need.
For #GivingEveryTuesday “World Ocean Day Edition,” GivingTuesdaySpark organized youth around the world to lead local beach cleanups after school from Chicago to Hong Kong to South Africa.
For #GivingEveryTuesday “World Hunger Day,” GivingTuesday leaders in the Philippines worked with a local school to rally students, parents, and every day givers to pack 4000 food packs containing rice, canned goods, fresh vegetables, eggs and noodles and distributed them to families around Metro Manila and Laguna.
