At a suburban Chicago school, 8th grade students spent the entire day engaging in a variety of service learning projects focusing on empathy, civic responsibility, and global citizenship. Students could pick from different projects: donating a dollar to charity to tape a teacher to a wall, making blankets for ALS patients, to creating centerpiece for the nursing home holiday party.

Strathmore University in Kenya mobilized their students on GivingTuesday to raise KES 108,697 for their scholarship fund.
Hartwick College students painted "The Wall," a retaining wall at the edge of their campus to say "GivingTuesday - Support Your Community" The property belongs to the town, but it's a long-standing tradition that students from the two local colleges (Hartwick and SUNY College at Oneonta) take turns painting it to promote various events and raise public awareness.
The 2nd & 7 Foundation promotes reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging
young athletes to pay it forward. On GivingTuesday, the Foundation partnered with local youth athletic teams for young
athletes to #PayItForward. Coaches signed up their student athletes and brought books to classrooms and read for elementary
school students in the Columbus, Ohio area
