Anjum Aara is from Bihar and has a Bachelor’s in Education. She won the election in her ward and is currently serving as the Mukhiya (leader or chief) of a Gram Panchayat (Village Council). She lives in a community where people tend to have multiple unplanned pregnancies due to a poor understanding of contraception, leading to a lower standard of living, overall. To combat this, she is working towards educating families, especially newly married couples, on the need for – and effective use of – contraception, and the importance of family planning.
