How Businesses Are Giving Back This GivingTuesday

21 Nov 2019 by GivingTuesday

From providing matching gifts, to rallying their employees to create change, businesses participate in GivingTuesday in a variety of ways. Here are a few examples of how corporations and companies are planning to participate in GivingTuesday 2019.

T-mobile is rallying customers, employees and fans to help donate up to 5 million meals to people in need through Feeding America. T-Mobile Customers can give up to five meals by saving any of the deals in the T-Mobile Tuesdays app on December 3. For every deal saved, T-Mobile will donate a meal to Feeding America. Every time anyone tweets with #GivingOnUs, T-Mobile will contribute 10 meals to Feeding America. The Un-Carrier will also host 100 employee volunteer events with Feeding America member food banks across the country through the end of the year.

CIT will invite its customers and social fans to join them in donating One Million Meals to Feeding America. Visit CIT on Facebook or Twitter to vote for one of the two Feeding America programs. Each vote (including likes/favorites, comments or shares) will direct 10 meals to the program of your choice. CIT will also donate 100 meals for every new Savings Builder account that’s opened through Dec. 17, 2019.

Paypal is matching donations by 10% in 15 countries across the globe. They’ll add 10% up to a total of $600,000 when you support the causes that are part of the Paypal Giving Fund starting at 6:00 AM (local time zone) on 12/3. Go to: paypal.com/giveback or support a cause in the PayPal app.

Noodles & Company will host fundraisers for nonprofits in local restaurants across the country on GivingTuesday. Fundraisers will take place from 4 – 8 p.m. on Dec. 3. Guests can participate simply by dining at any participating Noodles restaurant and mentioning the fundraiser at checkout, and Noodles will donate 25 percent of all fundraiser sales back to the local organization.

Nike, in partnership with Khloe Thompson of KhloeKares, and WSS will host an in-store experience at WSS’s LA/Pico store, welcoming the community to be a force for change and get active in giving. Customers will pack Kare Bags, filled with toiletry items and personal messages, which will be distributed to clients of LA Mission.

EBay has created a campaign that mocks the “holiday creep” phenomenon among marketers that promotes gift shopping earlier every year. The online marketplace will place $1 in a “#HolidayJargon Jar” — up to $50,000 — every time a major brand uses a holiday buzzword in its Twitter posts, and then donate the money to charity.

Facebook will match up to $7 million in donations on GivingTuesday to help raise awareness of the causes that people care about and further amplify that generosity. The match is available to US nonprofits that use Facebook’s fundraising tools and donations will be matched on a first-come, first-served basis.

JP Morgan Chase will encourage employees to support nonprofits on GivingTuesday. Chase believes that investing in our communities is the right thing to do for those in need and for our businesses. For every $1 donated (up to $1,000), employees will receive a $2 credit (up to $2,000) in their Charitable Spending Account (CSA). Chase will give 3 grants of $25,000 each to the states with the highest employee participation to donate to a nonprofit of their choosing.

Fossil and DoSomething.org have a shared belief that young people have the power and passion to change the world. They’re encouraging fans and followers to Make Time for Good by completing challenges and sharing on social media. Fossil will donate $1 to DoSomething for every #MakeTimeForGood post.

Patagonia will match donations to organizations that are part of its Patagonia Action Fund, all of which are working to find solutions to the environmental crisis. Between Nov. 29 and Dec. 31, they’ll match up to $10,000 per donation, until they’ve reached a maximum match of $10,000,000.
