With youth shaking up and spearheading many of the major movements on key issues facing our world today, from climate change to healthcare to student debt, GivingTuesday is helping amplify the next generation of young leaders to be organizers, thought-leaders, and campaign managers for a more generous world. We’re so thrilled to announce the launch of GivingTuesday for kids!
#GivingTuesdayKids is a youth-led social change activation happening after school on December 3, 2019 for GivingTuesday. Led by 12-year-old Khloe Thompson and a team of young ambassadors, #GivingTuesdayKids is an opportunity for young people come together on the day of global giving, to take action around the causes they care about most. The ambassadors are challenging young people all over the world to participate in service projects, volunteer activities, and acts of kindness in honor of GivingTuesday.
The website feature project ideas of all sizes – from sharing kind notes on lockers at school to cheer each other on during finals to packing sacked lunches for people experiencing homelessness – there are a million ways to give and each means more when we give together.
Kids are encouraged to register their projects then share on social media using #GivingTuesdayKids! There are resources and toolkits for how to participate and spread the word to help grow the movement.
Teachers and classrooms are also encouraged to get involved! Check out the teacher resources which includes a curriculum designed especially for #GivingTuesdayKids by our partner, Learning to Give.
In just 7 years, GivingTuesday has radically changed how people think about generosity. We’re so excited to amplify the next generation of young leaders who are building a more just + generous world.
