The Generosity Continues: Next Steps After GivingTuesday 2024

18 Dec 2024 by GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday 2024 may be behind us, but the season of generosity is still in full swing! Whether your goal was to raise funds, rally volunteers, or spread awareness, now is the time to keep the energy going through the rest of the giving season and into the new year.

Here’s how to sustain and amplify the impact of your GivingTuesday efforts throughout the giving season:

1. Say Thank You

Expressing gratitude is one of the most important actions you can take. As donations continue to roll in through the giving season, take time to send thank-you emails, post heartfelt messages on social media, and, when possible, handwrite notes to donors and volunteers. Acknowledging their contributions not only shows appreciation, but also builds loyalty for the future.

2. Share Your Results

Let your supporters know how their contributions are making an impact not just on GivingTuesday, but throughout the giving season. Share key metrics such as funds raised, hours volunteered, communities reached, or specific projects supported. Highlighting these achievements shows your supporters the tangible results of their generosity. Transparency builds trust, reinforces the value of contributions, and inspires ongoing involvement. Leverage engaging visuals, such as infographics on social media, or share these highlights through weekly or bi-weekly emails to keep your audience informed and maintain strong momentum throughout the giving season and into the new year.

3. Keep Your Audience Engaged

Don’t let the momentum from GivingTuesday 2024 fade. Engage new and existing donors through follow-up opportunities, such as exclusive updates, in-person gatherings, or virtual events. For example, host a volunteer meet-up, a donor appreciation event, or a happy hour to foster meaningful connections and strengthen their bond to your mission.

4. Emphasize Year-End Giving

The giving season doesn’t end with GivingTuesday—it’s just the beginning. Encourage donors to make an even greater impact by contributing before the year closes. Remind them about tax-deductible giving deadlines and how their support helps achieve end-of-year goals. Highlight campaigns or initiatives that could benefit from an extra push through the end of December.

5. Share More Stories

Stories of impact are the backbone of effective communication. Highlight how your supporters’ generosity is making a difference, whether through individuals, communities, or projects they’ve helped. Post these stories on your website, social media, and email newsletters to maintain an emotional connection with your audience.

6. Plan for 2025

It’s never too early to start preparing for next year’s GivingTuesday (December 2, 2025). Reflect on what worked well this year and identify areas for growth. Building an early roadmap will set you up for an even bigger impact next year. Plus, sharing your plans early with supporters can help build anticipation and engagement.

7. Reconnect with Your Internal Team

Take time to debrief with your team to evaluate your GivingTuesday efforts. Celebrate the wins, identify challenges, and document key takeaways for future campaigns. A strong team strategy is essential for maximizing impact, not just for GivingTuesday but for the remainder of the giving season and beyond.
